GUILDERLAND - Shirley Maxine (Perkins) Trepanier of Guilderland, NY, died on February 8, 2014. She was born in Spring Valley, Minnesota in 1926. She lived in Austin, Minnesota until her high school graduation when she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked as a secretary in the Pentagon. She met and married Henry Paul Trepanier in 1946. The couple later moved to Connecticut.

She worked at Princeton Knitting Mills and then Waterbury Farrell in the accounting department for 20 years. A few years after Henry died, she moved to Guilderland to be near two of her daughters. She worked at Fabric Bonanza and then MVP in the payroll department until her retirement at the age of 81.

She was an avid golfer, bowler and volunteered as an usher for Proctors for 18 years. She loved sewing, reupholstering furniture, knitting and traveling.

She is survived by her three daughters, MaryEllen Tardiff (Gerald), Barbara Mitchell (Thomas), and Patricia Gorman (Glenn). Shirley had nine grandchildren, Alexis Schmidt (Mark), Dennis Tardiff (Nikki Pone), Emily Ayers (Andrew), Jessica Mitchell, Sudha Mitchell (Mike Swart), Krishna Mitchell (Katelynn), Sujathi Mitchell (Rob VanPelt), and Christopher and April Gorman. Shirley was particularly fond of her great granddaughters, twin Evelyn and Violet Ayers, who brought her great joy in the latter years of her life. She is also survived by her younger sister, JoAnn Smith of Austin, Minnesota and 12 nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland and spent her final days at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Our Lady of Mercy as well as to Hospice for their care and support during her final days.

Funeral services will be private with interment in Connecticut.
