EAST BERNE – Shirley A. Murdick, beloved wife of the late John L. Murdick, Jr. "Mickey" entered into eternal rest on April 25, 2023.
Shirley was the daughter of the late William and Emma Danberry. She grew up in Albany with her sisters Muriel and Gloria and attended Albany Schools. She married the love of her life, "Mickey", on July 1st, 1950, and they spent 66 years together.
Shirley very much enjoyed working retail over the years at Flahs and Honigsbaum in Albany. She loved cooking for her family, reading, watching NCIS shows and listening to Engelbert Humperdink and Eddy Arnold whenever she had the chance. But as we all know, her main enjoyment in life was taking care of and spending time with her family. She especially loved spoiling all the grandchildren at Christmas!
She will be in our hearts forever and we take comfort knowing that she is at peace and that she is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and with whom she has so deeply missed over the past several years.
In addition to Mickey, Shirley was predeceased by her beloved son, John, III; grandson Sean Michael Murdick, daughter-law Beatrice Murdick; sisters Gloria(late Charles) and Muriel(late George), several in-laws and friends and her faithful companion, Max.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone at The Teresian House, especially those on 5A who took such great care of Mom; we appreciate you all so much.
Survivors include her children William (Susan), Daniel(late Beatrice), Robert(Nancy), Timothy (Kimberly), Joseph, Cheryl(Richard), Brother-in-laws Patrick(Mary) and Michael (Peggy); several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many neices and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave, Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
