Colonie- Shirley Anne (Oliver) Murphy, age 86, died peacefully at home on April 3, 2022, almost exactly 20 years to-the-day from her pre-deceased husband, Thomas P. Murphy.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Chester R., and Pearl E. Hastie; her brother Chester T., her sister Pearl Elizabeth Harrigan, and her sister Virginia L. Cramer.
Shirley is survived by her nine children: Michael J., Scott A. (Lori), Beth Gerasia (late Tony), Suzanne Pangburn (Willy), Catharine "Kitty" Slocum (Jeff), Molly Jacobson (Steve), David T. (Kelley), Daniel P. (Alison), and Matthew P. (Erica).
Known as "Grammy," Shirley is survived by 22 grandchildren: Jarod Murphy; Logan Murphy; Casey Murphy; Paul Angelo; Alyssa (Angelo) Davis (Justin); Kyle Pangburn (Faith); Ethan Slocum (Jana); Collin Slocum; Dylan Slocum; Cynthia Jacobson; Ryan Jacobson; Samantha Jacobson; Gabriella Murphy; Tristan Murphy; Tylor Murphy; Teagan Murphy; Aidan Murphy; Cecilia Murphy; Finn Murphy; Jacob Murphy; Samuel Murphy; and Evelyn Murphy.
She is survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Thomas Davis; Jason Davis; Max Davis; and Quinn Slocum. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a past Board Member of Colonie Little League, and an ardent spectator of Babe Ruth, and Senior Babe Ruth. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and "everything" baseball.
There will be a private service for immediate family members only. Anyone who knows Shirley "Grammy" Murphy, knows that she loved children; whether they were her own, her grandchildren, or those for whom she babysat for years.
