COLONIE_Shirley J. Parker, 80, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 26, 1935 to the late Mark and Roseanne (Rogers) Howder in Albany.
On February 6, 1953, she married Alfred Parker. She was a member of the Church of St. Clare in Colonie, where she taught Religious Education for many years.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to caring for her family. She will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know and love her.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Alfred Parker; their children, Katherine Tortorici, Daniel and Gail Parker, James Parker; grandchildren, Jill (Will Turner) Tortorici, Laura Tortorici, Michael (Liliana) Tortorici, Amanda (Robert Bruderer) Parker, Jason (Heidi) Parker, AJ Parker, Ashley Parker; great-grandchildren, Logan, Kashawn, Isabella, Juanes, Abigail; sisters, Louise (Chris) Huyck, Eleanor Roy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Mark and Edward Howder; sisters, Doris Glinski, and Mary Hansen.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Community Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 9:30 am at the Church of St. Clare. Graveside services will follow at Memory Garden's Cemetery.
