Shirley Rooney

ALBANY- Shirley Rooney, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2021.

Born on September 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Jack Garrity and Anna Taylor and granddaughter of the late Jane Garrity. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Hugh James Rooney and her son James J. Rooney.

Shirley was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to her family. She loved to play Bingo and her lottery numbers and scratch offs. She loved her cats. She was a kind and gentle soul, who will truly be missed by everyone.

Shirley is survived by her sons, John and Patrick and her daughter, Michele; her daughter in law, Joanne and son in law Randy. She is also survived by her granddaughters: Guinevere, Devon, Samantha and Miranda and her grandson, Brandon, also seven great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the people of Hospice and St. Peter's Hospital for caring for their mother.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 12 to 2 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A Celebration of Shirley's Life will follow at 2 p.m.
