ALBANY - Shirley J. Terry, 85 passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Delmar Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing.
Shirley was born on February 20, 1939 in Charlotte Court House, VA, daughter of the late Mary W. Terry. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for New York State Department of Taxation & Finance for 39 years before retiring in 1996. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, sewing and completing the daily crossword puzzle while watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Shirley is survived by her children, Tracey Cobbs and Barry (Teri) Lipscomb. She was predeceased by her youngest son, Eric Lipscomb. Additionally, to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Deanna Lipscomb, La'Shaunna Lipscomb and Nathaniel Cobbs; great grandchildren, Jurnee Jackson and Aria Walker; and her siblings, David (Elizabeth) Terry and Florence (Lowell) Wilson-McGill. Shirley was predeceased by her brother, James Terry. In addition, Shirley leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A calling hour will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be held in Graceland Cemetery immediately following the service.
