Colonie- Sigmund "Ziggy" Rydelnik, 58, went into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in New Haven, CT. Born on February 15, 1948 in Berlin, Germany, he was the son of the late Meyer and Ruth Rydelnik. Ziggy emigrated to the United States in 1952 at the age of four with his family. Living in Brooklyn, Sigmund was raised in a Jewish home. He was a graduate of George Westinghouse High School. He went on to attend Technical Career Institute and was certified in the field of electronics. Ziggy was employed with Honeywell Protection Services and the Instrumentation Controls Divisions for 17 years, before moving to the Colonie Area in 1985. In 1988 he was employed with Insulating Materials Inc., more recently known as Von Roll Isola Corp. For all of his life Ziggy had a love for news talk radio programs, and was an avid pool player as well. He was a member of the John Birch Society and a communicant of the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Schenectady. Ziggy is predeceased by his birth mother Sarah Rydelnik, his sister Esther Rydelnik and also an infant brother.
Ziggy was a friendly and outgoing man who was always willing to lend a hand whenever it was needed. He was a loving and caring provider to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Cynthia (Channon) Rydelnik; his cherished son David both of Colonie. Ziggy is also survived by his two sisters, Miriam Karl of Atlanta, GA and Lorraine Gruskin of Queens, NY, his brother Michael Rydelnik of Chicago, IL and nine nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to the Guillian-Barre Syndrome Foundation at GBS/CIDP Foundation, PO Box 262, Wynnewood, PA 19096 or to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205, in memory of Sigmund Rydelnik.
