Sophie Govel

ALBANY- Sophie M. Govel of Albany passed away on Thursday November 3, 2005 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Nellie and Joseph Govel Sr. Sophie was a lifelong resident of Albany. She was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital from where she retired after 25 years of service. She had also worked previously at Ann Lee Nursing Home.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen P. Harris Jr (Faye); two granddaughters, Lauren Nicole and Melissa Lynn all of Aiken, SC. She is the aunt of Andrew Govel, Timothy Govel and Gregory Govel of Albany. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Frank, Andrew and Joseph Govel.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 8:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
