GUILDERLAND – Stanley C. Heidenreich, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital, after a short illness.
Stanley was born on June 22, 1925 in Albany and was the son of the late Leroy and Lysle (Beach) Heidenreich. He graduated from Milne High School, Class of 1943. Stan served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the 10th Mountain Division Ski Troops in WWII. He served in Po Valley, Italy and was awarded two Bronze Stars.
Stanley was the President/Treasurer of the Waterville Laundry from 1947 to 1973. He then went on to become the Assistant Chief of Ski Center Operations for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation until his retirement in 1995.
Stan served on the committee for Certification of Professional Ski instructors, Eastern Ski Association 1955 to 1973, and was the Chairman of Certified Professional Ski Instructors from 1961 to 1973. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran Church, the Helderberg Ski Club, and the 10th Mt. Division Association – Upstate NY and New England Chapter.
Stanley is survived by his beloved wife, Deloris Van Deusen; his sister, Phebe (Robert) Lukens; three children and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment was held private for the family at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
