Stanley Clifford Kocsis

July 16, 1932 — July 17, 2020

Stanley C. Kocsis, 88, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020. He was born in Clintontown, N.J. born to the late John Kocsis & Hendrina Kocsis. Stanley is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Anna (Luck) Kocsis. He is survived by John, Louida (Kocsis) Johnson, Arthur and Roland. He was predeceased by two sisters Mildred, Ruth (Kocsis) Allen and one brother, Bernard.

Survived by his five children Stanley (Joanne), Mark (Martha), Betsy, Paul, and Joy (James), daughter-in-law, Lori, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Stan was drafted into the army in 1954 where he spent 15 months in South Korea where he learned to weld. He returned home to his job at General Electric where he was a machinist for 8 years. Stan then worked at Southworth Machinery, In Menands as a welder working on Caterpillar Tractors for 35 years. He was an elder in Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he attended for 50 years. Stan had the biggest heart. He was the one that could fix anything and would drop everything to help anyone in need. He never asked for anything in return. One of the things that brought him the most joy was his family and grandchildren. He was a father to so many ("adopted") children through each of his children's friends and church families. Many people considered him their father and he influenced their lives for the good.

His hobby was buying a car that had been totaled and restoring it to new for each of his 5 children. He gave each of his children a head start in life that he did not get. He helped his children to learn to live humbly. He worked hard and even worked till he was 74 helping to renovate the RPI Dorms so that the students had heat in the winter.

After his cardiac arrest in 2010 he was still able to fix an antique lamp an antique restorer could not. MacGyver Kocsis' went to work and figured it out. He instilled in his children determination and ingenuity to try and figure things out. We were not to give up and just except mediocre fixes. One of the people he influenced who was in the operating room in June said, "If you want something done right do it yourself" quoting him. Another great mission after his cardiac arrest was telling people how he died and came back to life and "the only reason I know I'm still here is to tell you that Jesus loves you and I want you in heaven with me. I really mean it."

Stan now is in heaven rejoicing with his best friend Doug Donovan.

We will be having a private small ceremony which will be live streamed on the Our Savior's Lutheran Church Website www.oslalbany.com and Our Savior's Lutheran Church Facebook page.
