SCHENECTADY - Stefan Weglinski passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.
Stefan was born on April 30, 1928, in Wincentynow, Poland. He attended public school at Kamien. In 1943, he was taken from his family into forced labor in Germany, where he worked until the end of WWII. In 1946, he joined the Polish Labor Service unit, working for the US Army as a Guard and Truck Driver guarding American properties in Germany and France for 10 years. He married Elisabeth in 1950. Because of his work for the US Army, he and his family were allowed to come to the United States as "Non Quota Immigrants." They settled in Schenectady in 1957. He worked for Sealtest Foods, the City of Schenectady, General Electric and Standard Products. He retired in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth, of 72 years; four children: Gary Weglinski, Marianne Weglinski, Christine D'Amico, and Walter Weglinski (Michelle Dee); his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Maria and Barbara, relatives and friends in Poland.
