Albany - Stella J.Gasorowski, 96 passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016.
Stella was born on January 19, 1920. Stella was the daughter of the late Julius and Veronica (Magiera) Olsiewski. She retired from the Albany County Department of Social Service in 1982.
Stella was an active member of the Cathedral of All Saints serving as a choir mother for over 20 years. She also worked in the Cathedral's Thrift shop up to her 96th birthday.
Stella was a volunteer at the Albany Stratton VA Hospital. She was a member of the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post Auxiliary since 1964.
She loved crocheting and made hundreds of lap afghans for the Veterans and nursing homes.
Stella loved gardening, bingo, playing pinochle, and trips to the casino.
Stella is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Gasorowski and Gloria (Galea); her brother Edward (Kay) Olsiewski; daughter-in law Lynn; grandchildren Carolyn, Jason, Stanley Jr.,and Sara; great granddaughter Stella; step-grandchildren Steven and Kristine, and several nieces and nephews.
Stella was predeceased by her beloved husband Stanley (Steve) Gasorowski; her son Stephen F. Gasorowski; her brothers Watson, Charles, Stanley and Leo; her sisters Julia, Bonita, Mary and Helen.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 6:00pm-7:00pm with a service to immediately follow. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
