ALBANY – Stella M. Rogers, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 13, 2008. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Edward Waldron and Arline Wheeler Halloran and step-daughter of the late Roswell Halloran. She was an Albany resident for all of her life. Stella was a dedicated employee of Woolworth Co. at Westgate Plaza and then worked at the Central Avenue Store as the lunch counter manager, where she retired after many years of service. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and puzzles. Stella was a lover of country music, especially Alan Jackson. She will be remembered for enjoying a cup of coffee and a hotdog from Stewart's and a double cheeseburger and happy meal from McDonald's. Stella is the beloved mother of Edward J. (Mary Lou) Rogers. She is the devoted grandmother of Kayla Rogers. She is the loving sister of Edward "Hood" (Deanna) Waldron, Barbara (Bob) Tucker and the late James Waldron. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Kimberly and John Greenwell, Edward Waldron, Jr. and Tina Farr. Stella is the former wife and friend of Edward (Joan) Rogers. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Robert H. "Robbie" Rogers with whom she is now reunited.
Funeral services will be Friday evening at 6:00 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Graceland Cemetery, Albany. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave., Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210 in memory of Stella M. Rogers.
