SCHENECTADY- Stephanie M. Payeur, 35, of Schenectady, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 18, 2010 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
She was born in Albany and graduated from Schenectady High School in 1993 with high honors. While in high school, Stephanie played the violin for orchestra, participated in French club and was a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated from SUNY at Albany in 2000 with of Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian studies. Stephanie traveled to Osaka ,Japan as part of an internship where she enjoyed having her picture taken as a Japanese Geisha.
Stephanie had many interests and loves. The latest person to grace her life was her niece, Sophia Monroe Payeur, born February 6, 2010. Stephanie just loved Sophia as well as her niece and nephew, Zoey and Elliot Higby. As their adoring aunt, she loved sharing the Kitty game, reading and working with them on their art projects. Stephanie never failed to show her love to her parents and her sisters. Stephanie was always there for her family when needed. The whole family appreciates her selfless support. In March of 2008, Stephanie was proud to finally get a place of her own. She loved the opportunity to decorate and prepare her apartment for her own tastes. Stephanie will always be missed by her loving family but never gone from their hearts.
She is the beloved daughter of Arthur F. and Nancy Kawauchi Payeur. She is the loving sister of Amy Higby, Jennifer Payeur and Kelly Payeur. She is the granddaughter of Arthur and Doris Payeur and the late Roy and Micki Kawauchi. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 9:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk Opportunities Incorporated, 218 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12307 in memory of Stephanie M. Payeur.
