ALBANY-Stephen J. Wagoner, 61, of Albany, NY passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Albany County Nursing Home following a long illness. Stephen was born in Albany, NY the son of the late Fred and Mary Agnes (Sullivan) Wagoner. He graduated from Albany High School and earned an Associates' Degree from Hudson Valley Community College. Stephen proudly served in the US Army Reserve. He enjoyed running, tending to his garden and bowling. Stephen was a history buff, who enjoyed frequenting the Norman Rockwell and the Chesterwood Museums in Stockbridge, MA.
Stephen is survived by his children Kevin, Stephen and Kyle Wagoner; his siblings Sarah Cavanaugh (George), John Wagoner, Hank Wagoner (Maryann), Kathryn Bennett, David Wagoner (Louanne), Thomas Wagoner, Linda Dwyer, Carl Peryea, Deborah Howansky (Robert), Joseph Dugan (Jan), and Donald Dugan (Dawn), many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Gina Wagoner.
The family would like to thank the E Wing staff at Albany County Nursing Home for the care that Stephen received.
In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his brothers Charles and Fred Wagoner, his brother-in-law Albert Dwyer and by a sister-in-law Virginia Wagoner.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, March 31, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 4:30 PM on Monday for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave. Guilderland.
Interment will be at St Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Stephen.
