COLONIE – Stephen F. Macejka, 67, of Colonie, passed away suddenly at his home, in the arm's of his wife, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. As a young man, Steve developed a passion for stock car racing at Fonda Speedway. He was an avid NASCAR fan and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. Steve especially enjoyed traveling. He looked forward to his annual vacations to the ocean with his wife and daughters. His most memorable vacations were his 25th wedding anniversary cruise, his trip to Las Vegas and his trips to Hawaii. He enjoyed visiting his daughter in Charlotte, NC where he would attend many NASCAR racing events. Mr. Macejka loved to camp with the Rookie Travelers Camp Club and his many Midway friends. Steve loved to attend his grandson's BMX and little league events. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as a "Steve of all trades" always willing to help others. Steve is the beloved husband of 45 years to Patricia H. Macejka. He is the devoted father of Christine Perry and her husband, Louis of Colonie and Shari Ricks and her husband, Ronald of Charlotte, NC. He is the loving brother of Gloria Fowler of Charlotte, NC and Joseph (Michele) Macejka of Schenectady. Steve is the cherished Poppy of Gerald Stephen Rooney. He is the step-grandfather of Ryan and Shaun Ricks. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Steve's family would like to extend special thanks to the staff and friends at Bright Horizons, the staff at the Movement and Disorder Center at Albany Medical Center and all of the doctors and nurses who cared for him during his illness.
