East Greenbush- Stephen Sevits died after a long illness on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Born in Staten Island, NY he was the son of the late H. Walter and Frances Sevits. Steve grew up in Schenectady where he attended Mount Pleasant High School. Steve served in the United States Army from 1961-1964. He served in Viet Nam and also Okinawa. Steve received his bachelor degree from Parsons College in lowa and continued his education with the Cooperstown Graduate Program for museum studies where he received a masters degree.
Steve did museum work for a couple of years after which he sold cars in Saratoga and the capital district. In the mid-seventies he started working for a wholesale flag business called Uneeda Wholesale. He sold American and foreign flags and custom made flags and banners.
He leaves behind his wife Joyce and son David.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871 at 2:30pm. There will be no procession, the family will meet at the cemetery. Those attending should arrive between 2:15pm and 2:30pm.
