Averill Park - Stephen J. Snyder, 68, passed away on Friday, August 16th at Albany Medical Center.
He was born on April 13, 1956 in Albany, NY to the late Willard and Mary (Christopher) Snyder. He was a 1974 graduate of Colonie Central High School. Stephen worked as a Security Supervisor for the New York State Police for 40 years. He enjoyed working in an environment that allowed him to frequently talk to and meet new people. He retired in 2023.
Stephen was an outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed camping, kayaking, and canoeing. He shared these passions with his children. He was a lover of the classics: cars, motorcycles, and fantasy novels. He enjoyed road trips and exploring new places, particularly if that meant eating out at a new restaurant. And he was an avid storyteller - weaving in fact, fiction, and long tangents seamlessly together into very tall tales.
Stephen is survived by his wife Stephanie Snyder; his children Kara (Snyder) Morgan and Eric Snyder; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sandy Snyder; his sister-in-law, Joan Snyder; his sister and brother-in-law, Nora (Snyder) and Tom Dobson; brother- and sister-in-law, Jeff and Nancy Carter; brother- and sister-in-law, Gene and Ling Carter; brother-in-law, Brian Carter; brother-in-law and his partner, Damian Carter and Mary-Pat Hickey; sister- and brother-in-law, Laurie and Steve Farina; sister- and brother-in-law, Christine and Henry Kenyon; brother- and sister-in-law, Daniel and Mary Carter; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Willard and Mary (Christopher) Snyder; his mother- and father-in-law, Dorothy (Jessup) and James Carter; his brother, Joseph Snyder; his brother-in-law Joseph Carioto; and his daughter-in-law, Alli Morgan
