Stephen M. Starks, 61, of Colonie, NY, a lifelong resident of Albany known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, as well as, a love for his family which includes his dog, Peanut, and cats, Dice and Bunny, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, after a long battle with cancer in Albany Medical Center.
Born December 12, 1962, in Albany NY, Stephen was the son of the late George E. Starks and the late Lorraine C. (Labunski) Starks and step-son to James J. Carroll Jr. Stephen attended Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School and Junior College of Albany. Stephen was a retired member of Local Union 40 Heat and Frost Insulators, where he held the office of Executive Board member, as well as briefly teaching in the Apprenticeship Program. Stephen also liked to moonlight driving cab and as a bartender, working at many establishments across Albany.
Stephen had a love for all sports but focused most of his passion on the Miami Dolphins. Stephen also likes to travel, whether it be to a sandy beach with his family or to a power plant in Connecticut to work. In his youth, he made 4 different cross-country trips, seeing many sights across our nation. He also enjoyed many family gatherings, whether it was throwing a barbeque, a pool party or sitting around the fire pit.
Stephen is survived by his life partner of 33 years, Cynthia M. Giminiani, and their two sons, Samuel S. Starks and Nicholas S. Starks.
Stephen is also survived by brothers, William Carroll, Michael Carroll Sr., Jason Carroll (Martina), Jarrett Carroll (Rachel) and sister, Michele (Stephen) Francis
Also survived by sister-in-law, Patricia M. Gabriel and her husband, Alfred, along with many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Stephen is predeceased by his brothers, George Starks, Christopher Carroll and James Carroll III.

Services will take place on Saturday January 27, 2024, from 11:00am- 1:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 1:00pm.
