Stephen D. Wyllie

NISKAYUNA-Stephen D. Wyllie, 65, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 5, 2017 after a brief illness.
He was born on January 7, 1951 in Buffalo. Stephen grew up in Painted Post, NY before relocating to Rochester with his family. Steve graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College with his Bachelors Degree in Psychology. It was there he had made many life long friends and also where he met Carla Duffy, who later became his wife.
Stephen enjoyed many sports. He played in a softball league in Rochester as well as many bowling leagues. Stephen also enjoyed golfing.
In 1990 he, his wife and children relocated to Niskayuna. Stephen worked as a Assistant Director of Special Investigations for the NYS Dept. of Labor in Albany. Steve was a member and elder at Pineview Community Church, an active volunteer for the Niskayuna Soccer League where he served as a coach. He also served as Vice President of the Niskayuna Soccer Club. He was very passionate about coaching and kept very detailed statistics to demonstrate the accomplishments of his teams.
Steve was a devoted husband and father and was always present at his children's sporting events. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved people. He will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege to know him as a son, husband, father, Papa, coach and friend.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carla D. Wyllie; their children, Hannah (Michael) Santiago, Robert B. Wyllie; grandchildren, Lucy Irene and Garrett Stephen Santiago; his parents, Robert and Mildred Wyllie; brothers-in-law, Douglas (Nancy) Duffy, Baxter (DonnaLee) Duffy, his uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Baxter and Ann Duffy; his grandparents, Hugh and Agnes Wyllie and Harold and Dorothy Jenkins.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Pineview Community Church, 251 Washington Ave. Extension, Albany, NY 12205. A memorial service to celebrate Steve's life will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11am at Pineview Community Church.
