Albany- Steven Andrew McGuigan known always as “Drew”, born July 16th, 1978 in Westwood, N.J., died suddenly at his home of an accidental overdose in Gloversville, N.Y. on May 29th, 2024. He was 45 years old. He lived in Charlotte, NC, Granville & Albany too.
He is survived by his daughter, Annelise M. McGuigan of FL., his loving mother, Patricia C. Merz of Niskayuna, and his two brothers, Christopher J. Merz and his wife Vanessa of FL., and Jonathan E. Merz of CO., and his favorite nephew Alexander J. Merz of FL.
He will be so missed by his family, and so many friends from the Nuevo Clinic in Albany where he fought such a hard and courageous fight to get himself better, where he grew as a loving person of compassion for all those struggling with anxiety, depression, P.T.S.D. and substance abuse disorder. He would say “never give up”, find and try all treatments and groups available. Build a support system, and be kind and forgiving to everyone struggling with anything. He believed that kindness went a long way.
Rest in peace now. Drew, I will miss your long, strong hugs so much. You will never be forgotten, love never passes away.
