Scotia~ On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Steven Paul Rogowski of Scotia, age 55 passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his daughter at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.
Steve was a 1984 Graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School. After graduating, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 4 years aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Saratoga CV-60 as an Instrument Man. Home bases were Mayport, Florida and Newport News, Virginia.
On March 23, 1986 the Carrier was part of the United States Sixth Fleet sent to the disputed Gulf of Sidra in the Mediterranean Sea, which would later be known as the "The Action in the Gulf of Sidra" hovering along Lybian leader Muammar Qaddafi's "Line of Death".
Upon completion of his service with the Navy, Steve was employed with Standard Copy for 13 years. After leaving Standard Copy he was employed with Bellamy Remodeling up to the time of his death.
During the Summer months Steve enjoyed boating and spending time with his daughter at their camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake.
Steve was an avid hunter and loved spending endless hours soaking in the beauty and tranquility of the woods.
His love for his daughter brought them to enjoy precious vacations to Virginia Beach, hiking in the woods, and father-daughter shopping trips. Steve's best buddy was his beagle, Hank.
Left with beautiful memories are his beloved Daughter Rebecca Rogowski (Alan), his loving mother, Shirley Rogowski, Sister Karen (John) Rogowski, his adored niece, Victoria Raczkowski, Brothers, John (Charity) Rogowski, Joe Rogowski and his former wife of 24 years, Lorena (Wagner) Zeh.
He was predeceased by his father, the late John Rogowski.
Services will be private at the request of the family.
