NISKAYUNA - Sueko N. Waterfield, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 7, 2015 at home after a long illness. Born in Inagi, Tokyo, Japan, she was the daughter of Enji and Waka Nagasawa.
Sueko was a formally trained dressmaker and tailor employed at The Country Miss, an exclusive women's apparel boutique in Latham as manager of the alteration department, retiring in 1978. In her spare time, Sueko was a talented artist. She was an avid bowler, having appeared on television and later took up golfing. She had a lifelong fascination with animals, mostly dogs and cats, but especially Princess Jasmine of Niskayuna, a purebred Persian. Sueko enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and winning at the casinos.
Along with her parents, Sueko was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters.
She will be forever missed by her husband of 58 years, J. Richard Waterfield; sons James N. Waterfield (Karen), Robert R. Waterfield (Cheryl) and Edward C Waterfield (Robert Dickson); sister, Kimiko of Hachioji, Japan; sister-in-law Marion Rutherford; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, especially Cheryl Owens-Long. She is also survived by close friends Patricia Waterfield and Bonnie Adams.
A special thanks to the Visiting Nurses of Schenectady County, Dr. Schumacher and the staff technicians at Capital District Dialysis Center in Schenectady, Niskayuna Fire District #2, and Niskayuna Police Department.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family at Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Kidney Foundation,501 New Karner Road
Albany, NY 12205 in Sueko's name.
