Susan A. Britain

COLONIE, NY – Susan A. Britain, 37, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2009, at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's, after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Susan was a 1989 graduate of Colonie High School and holds an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from the Junior College of Albany. While working for Combined Life Insurance as a meeting coordinator, Susan relocated to Pittsburgh, PA. While living there, she became an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and relished in their recent super bowl victory. After returning to Colonie in 1999, Susan worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Ayco Company in Saratoga Springs until just before her passing. Susan is the beloved daughter of Ellen (Sweet) and Richard Britain. She is the cherished sister of Amy Wheland and her husband, Chris. Susan is the treasured aunt of Emily Grace Wheland. She is the loving granddaughter of Geraldine and Walter Sweet and the niece of Ollie and Donald Sweet and JoAnne and C.J. Richards. Also surviving are several cousins. Susan was predeceased by her grandparents, Mary and Theron Britain and her aunts, Patricia Carkner and Judith Richards. The family would like to thank the staff of New York Oncology Hematology, with a special thank you to Lisa, Judy and Ann B. for the loving care and compassion they provided to Susan during her illness. Thank you also to Dr. Edward Scheid, and the staff of the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's for their support during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York, 33 Everett Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Susan A. Britain.
