Susan B. Calabro

Guilderland- Susan B. Calabro, 79, passed away on Saturday December 2, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born on October 12, 1944, to the late Randall and Hilda Becker and was raised in West Berne, N.Y. She graduated from Schoharie Central High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1962. She attended Wellesley College on a full scholarship and graduated from SUNY Albany.
In 1969 she married her lifetime partner and her loving husband Peter Calabro. They settled and raised their family in Guilderland N.Y. Susan spent her career working as a Systems Analyst for New York State and retired from the New York State Teachers Retirement System.
Susan was a loving amazing mother to her three children and loving Grammy to her five adoring grandchildren who she cherished more than anything. Susan loved working in her flower garden and on the genealogy of her rich family history. She loved to cook and share recipes and was known for hosting parties big and small. Susan was a generous loving woman always opening her home to everyone. Throughout her life she volunteered for the American Heart Association, WMHT, her neighborhood association, and other various causes.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Alan Becker.
Susan is survived by her husband Peter Calabro, her daughter Sandra (Daniel) Schleicher , Carmelo "Dan" Calabro, Stephen (Kristen) Calabro. Grandchildren Lauren and Kaitlyn Calabro, Daniel, Evan, and Marley Schleicher. Brother, Lawrence (Grace) Becker, sister-in-law Janet Becker, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-6pm held Monday December 11, 2023, with a celebration of life ceremony at 6:00pm at New Comer Creations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road Colonie, N.Y 12205
A gathering will follow at Mill Hollow Club House (previously Bavarian Chalet), 48 Bavarian Way, Altamont, NY 12009
