ALBANY- Susan Elizabeth (Siebert) Paul, 60, of Waterford, died peacefully on October 4, 2013 in the presence of her family. Susan was born in Albany on May 24, 1953 and spent her childhood in Guilderland, graduating from Guilderland High School. She went on to earn her RN at the Memorial School of Nursing with an advanced degree from Russell Sage College.
Susan leaves behind many who loved her dearly, whose lives she touched with her warmth, love, and delicious baked goods (especially brownies). She will be remembered for her outgoing, personable, and vivacious character, which commanded a room and turned strangers into companions and friends. During her courageous fight with cancer, Susan remained positive, upbeat and optimistic, determined never to allow her illness to dictate the terms of her life.
Susan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Johanna Schwartz; her son, Jared Paul; her son and daughter-in-law, Julius and Amanda Paul; and her daughter, Jenna Paul. She is also survived by her sister, Lynda McInerney, and her nephew and nieces, Shane, Kelly, Kaitlyn, and Kristin McInerney; her mother-in-law, Iris Walen Paul; her brother-in-law, Rick Walen; her sister and brother-in-laws, Lori and Johnny Caraballo, her niece, Alexis Walen, and her nephew, Evan Caraballo; and a wealth of extended family members and dear friends.
The family would like to express its sincerest gratitude to Rufus Collea, MD, of New York Oncology Hematology at Albany Medical Center for his care, comfort, and support of Susan throughout her battle with cancer.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at New-Comer Cannon Funeral Home at 343 New Karner Road in Colonie. Calling hours will be Saturday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, with a memorial service starting at 3:00 pm.
