Susan J. Frye

Susan J. Frye, 67, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025 in Miami, Florida, while preparing to embark on her next adventure.

She was born on August 18, 1957 in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late Lester and Gertrude Hadsell. 

Susan was employed as a bookkeeper for 20 years at The Bookhouse in Stuyvesant Plaza. Since her retirement five years ago, she has enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her husband, Andy, as they approached their 45th wedding anniversary in May. She cherished the weekly lunches and numerous jigsaw puzzles they did together. Susan’s favorite pastime was cruising the world with gusto. She sailed with Andy, some of her siblings, and friends they met along the way, and even a few of her grandchildren, to various destinations such as the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Greenland, and Iceland, among others. Susan was deeply involved in her grandchildren’s lives, attending a wide range of events for each of them over the years. She will forever be remembered and cherished as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her son in law, Daniel J. Haldeman.

She is survived by her loving husband, Andrew W. Frye; daughter, Samantha J. Haldeman; son, Andrew D. Frye (Terese); grandchildren, Aidan Daniel Haldeman, Tristan Samuel Haldeman, Isabella Nina Haldeman, Justin Andrew Frye, Lily Mae Frye, and Ella Sue Frye; siblings, Lester Hadsell (Carol), Delores Stroud (Jim), Lawrence Hadsell (Judy), Elma Houck, Stephen Hadsell (Hope), Stanley Hadsell, and George Hadsell; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 6 p.m.
