COLONIE- Susan M. Becker, 51, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 8, 2008 at the Inn of Community Hospice after a courageous battle with breast and ovarian cancer.
Sue was born in Watertown and was a graduate of Thousand Islands Central School. She earned her biology degree from SUNY-Geneseo and a Master of Social Work from SUNY Rockefeller School of Social Welfare. Sue was employed at Albany Medical Center as a Histologist III. She was formerly employed as a histologist for nearly 10 years at a private practice. She was an avid gardener and very proud of her flowers. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, camping, cross stitching, swimming, and cross country skiing. Sue loved to travel and spend time with her family including her cats, Tigger and Taz. She was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church and choir. Sue was a member of the fledgling Hope in the Boat dragon boating team of breast cancer survivors. She was also a member of Caring Together, a support group of women with ovarian cancer. Sue received a great deal of support and comfort from her many special friends at Gilda's Club.
Sue is the daughter of Doris Marcellus Bertrand and the late Robert Bertrand.
Sue is the beloved wife of Michael J. Becker and devoted Mother of Amy Becker. Sue is the sister of Catherine Bertrand Zeigler of Buffalo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at NewComer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Saturday from 12 noon to 2 o'clock at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
