Guilderland - Susan Diane Stealey, 51, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at home after her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by her loving family and pets.
Born on September 19, 1965 in Niskayuna, a daughter of Paul and Arlene Bangert Ableman. Sue was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Guilderland High School. Sue worked for the United States Postal Service for 17 years in their payroll dept, The Animal Hospital as their receptionist and retired from Guilderland Central School District as their Health Benefits & Payroll administrative.
Sue loved to travel and be outdoors; her favorite vacation spot was Ocean City, New Jersey with her family every summer. Sue will always be known as everyone's favorite aunt. She had a love for animals, especially her Collies, Lizzie and Sadie and her cats, Kit and Kaboodle. Sue was a loving person inside and out; she will be sadly missed by all.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Richard Stealey, whom she married on September 2, 1988; a loving union of 29 years. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul "Bill" Ableman (Cindy) and Glenn Ableman (Barbara); sister, Sandie Sanderson (Tom); brother-in-laws, Chuck Stealey (Theresa), Bob Stealey (Sandy) and Don Stealey (Debbie), Bill Durand; sister-in-law, Donna Stealey. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. Sue was predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Ray and Alice Stealey, brother-in-laws, David Stealey and Jim Stealey; sister-in-law, Patty Stealey Durand.

Calling hours for Sue will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, 12205. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
