Susan V. Siegel

Susan Siegel, 54, passed away on October 24, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Syracuse, Susan was the daughter of Adelaide Johnson and the late Harvey Johnson.

Susan was a 1977 graduate of Columbia High School. She received a Bachelor Degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Siena College in 1981. Susan received her Master Degree in Business Administration from Sage Graduate School in 1995. Susan also earned her Financial Planning credentials.

At the time of her passing, Susan was Executive Vice President of Sunmark Credit Union. Susan was proud to be a part of the Sunmark family because in addition to affording her the opportunity to serve her community through her work, Susan was able to share her talents through Sunmark's mentoring program. Susan was also President of the Credit Union Association. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Sunmark family for their support of Susan throughout her illness as well as to the family during this difficult period.
In addition to her community work through Sunmark, Susan once also coached pee-wee soccer, was a Girl Scout leader and always demanded the best of herself, her family, friends and subordinates. Susan was a past member of The East Greenbush Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a junior member of Bruen Rescue Squad.

Susan was a special lady admired by her family and friends and was an inspiration to many others whose lives she touched. Susan gave that extra "push" when needed to all she cared about and has been described as "mentor " by many who worked for her and with her. Truly, she was a remarkable woman who was the heart of her family, her Sunmark family, and so many friends. She always had a smile on her face and treated everyone with kindness and respect. Truly the "wind beneath our wings".

Susan is survived by her husband, Harold (Hal) Siegel; children, Mark (Christina) and Katherine "Katy" Siegel; mother, Adelaide Johnson; and brothers, Christopher (Deborah) and Scott (Deborah) Johnson. She also leaves a very special friend, Justin McKenna, who was at Katy and Susan's side in the final days and hours. She is also survived by her many friends. Each of you know who you are and are far too many to mention.

Calling hours will be at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A service celebrating and sharing her life will take place at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Those who wish are invited to join the family at the East Greenbush Fire Company Park Station, Phillips Road, East Greenbush following the services, graciously provided by the East Greenbush Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Memorial contributions should be made to the charity of one's choice.
