SCHENECTADY - Susie M Edmonds, 86, died February 22, 2012. Born January, 7th 1926 in Sumter, SC, she was the daughter of Rev. Emery Burgess and Dora Stukes. Susie was a lifelong resident of Albany.
Susie was a youth counselor with Samaritan Shelters Inc., for over 25 years and the recipient of the New York State Merit Award from the NYS Juvenile Justice System. A mother to all, a great friend to so many more, Susie loved family, traveling, hosting wonderful parties and was an incredible cook.
She is survived by sister Sarah Freeman of Baltimore, MD; devoted children and loving son-in-laws, Patricia (Ronnie) Holt, Delores (John) McIntosh, Martha Gayle (Bill) Edmonds-Bunn, Ted Trueman and Mary (James) King; Grandmother of Carlos (Michelle), Michael, Bryant (Arlys), Inger, Sasha, Whitney, Ashley, and Johnny. Also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Family fellowship and memorial services will be held Friday beginning at 11a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., prior to services.
