Albany- Suzanne Theresa Maguire, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 7, 2016 at Community Hospice Inn in Albany. Born on August 8, 1940 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth (Tegler) Maguire. Suzanne worked as the program coordinator for NYS Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene. It was here that she played a key role in the development of the Vanta See mobile education unit and Omardi Educational, a program designed to teach children about disabilities. From there, she left to begin a career as a Massage Therapist/ Reiki Master. Suzanne loved to travel, enjoyed watching and feeding her birds and tending to her gardens.
Suzanne was a dedicated and devoted mother to her five children: Susan (Bob), Christopher, Jill, Jacqueline, and Daniel (Terry) Spano; beloved grandmother to: Stephanie, Megan, Ryan, Erin, Camren, and Noah; great-grandmother to Beckett; sister to: Agnes (Paul), Rosanna (Richard), and John; she was aunt to: Kathy, Christy, Richard, and John. She is also survived by her longtime companion James Rogers.
Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm on Thursday, August 11 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will follow at 12pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
