Sylvia Hauser

Sylvia Emmy Hauser( formerly Goerg), 95, passed away on March 19, 2023. Sylvia was born on Long Island New York, on October 21, 1927. Her parents were Emmy and Otto Hauser.

Sylvia was full of life, a force. She worked diligently for the intellectually challenged: she was an innovative educator and a leader at Capital Region Boces for many years, in various roles. After full retirement she was a supervisor for student teachers at The College of Saint Rose.

She is survived by her significant other of 20 years, James Cooley, her children Susan Wheeler and James Goerg, her grandchildren John and Nathaniel Wheeler, and six great grandchildren.

Sylvia had many close friends who loved her and who she loved and supported. She enjoyed her family, laughter, painting, dancing, looking into spiritual paths, and giving thoughtful gifts. She had fun traveling, and having novel experiences. She was creative, and supported other's creativity. She had a big heart and a big personality. She will be deeply missed.
