Teme Chapman died peacefully at home on July 16th, 2022 at 93 years old. She was born on June 30th, 1929 in the Bronx, NY where she was raised until she married and raised her own family in Larchmont, NY. She had recently moved to Glenville, NY to be closer to her family. She lived in Scarsdale, NY for 27 years prior to the recent move.
Teme is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Don Chapman, her son Steve Chapman (Ellen), daughter Patti Kade (Bruce) and grandchildren Joe Chapman (Zoe), Peter Kade, and TJ Kade.
Having a passion for learning, Teme graduated from Hunter College where she studied many subjects including psychology, sociology, and geology. While raising her children, Teme often volunteered in the schools and loved being a member of the "Teacher Mom" program helping children succeed in school both academically and socially. She also worked for many years in New York City at different jobs in Human Resources including her favorite, Jim Henson Associates.
Teme loved her summers in Wellfleet and Orleans, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where she eventually lived for many years as well. She was a huge fan of Broadway, an avid reader and always enjoyed doing the NY Times Crossword Puzzle every Sunday. Teme liked watching Jeopardy and talking with her friends about her grandchildren, the "old" days, movies, theatre and books.
Teme was shy as a child, but her life was changed in the 7th grade when her favorite teacher, Maude Wormsly McKay, encouraged her to "stand up and talk"! Her kindness, smile, and witty sense of humor will be sorely missed by her friends and family.
