Terry Scrom

September 20, 1946 — July 19, 2013

ROTTERDAM-Terry Scrom, aged 66, entered into eternal peace on July 19, 2013.

Terry was born on September 20, 1946 in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Franklin Livingston Scrom and June (nee: McDonald) Scrom. She graduated from Schenectady High School (formerly Linton High School) in 1965. Ms. Scrom worked for the State of New York for over 35 years –primarily at the NYS Department of Labor.

Terry is survived by her sister, Linda Perrine; her brothers, Paul Scrom and partner, Celeste Boucher; and Richard Scrom and his wife, Edythe. Also surviving are nieces, Jennifer Perrine Carolyn Scrom, Jessica Hewitt, Kelly Scrom, Kelsey Scrom, and by her nephews Dan Scrom, Austin Scrom; Paul Scrom, Jr.; Franklin N. Scrom; and Richard M. Scrom. Terry was known as the "cool aunt."
Terry also leaves behind her cherished and very special friends, Sarah Jean Adams and Tammy Schaible.

Terry was a talented artist and she shared her artistic talents with her friends and family. She loved reading her Kindle. She particularly enjoyed lazy afternoons at home and watching the various critters that frequented the yard. Terry had a soft spot for animals, particularly, cats. Over the years, she cared for many of these special creatures. Terry also loved music and was a die-hard Dave Matthews fan. At 60, she surprised her friends and family by taking her first airline flight across the country to attend one of his concerts. Another favorite pastime was playing canasta – and she was known as a fierce competitor. The Christmas season was a time of particular joy for her; she was like a little kid with excitement and the gift of sharing.

A memorial service will be private and at the convenience of her family. Newcomer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York is being entrusted with her care.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the dedicated nurses in the ICU and to the knowledgeable, compassionate physicians at Ellis Hospital. Our thanks cannot be overstated.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Schenectady County Animal Protection Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, New York 12302, or to the charity of one's
choice.
