COLONIE – Theodore W. Sokaris, 73, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Dalton, Mass.
Ted was born on November 11, 1936 in Albany and was the son of the late William and Irene (Pappas) Sokaris. He was a graduate of Albany High School, where he played varsity football. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He was an installer for AT & T for over 20 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed camping, fishing and watching TV baseball and football.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Joanne (Van Wormer) Sokaris; his children, Cheryl (Norman) Tessier, Barbara Bauer, Dr. Stephen Sokaris, and Lisa Sokaris; his sisters, Aphrodite (Nicholas) Darris, and Helen and Mary Sokaris; his grandchildren, Valerie, Stephanie, Patti, and Matthew and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Sokaris; his son, William Sokaris; and his brothers, George and Cristo Sokaris.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Trisagion service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
