Theresa Joy Going

Theresa Joy Going, 55, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024 after a brief illness.

She was the daughter of George Smith and the late Mary Tenney. Theresa was the devoted wife of over 6 years to John T. Going, Jr.

Theresa liked to travel with John to Bermuda, Bahamas, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. She loved putting her toes in the sand, enjoyed doing puzzles, watching and re watching her favorite shows, including Chuck, Grey's Anatomy. She was an avid "Grammy" and loved to make people smile and would do anything for anyone.

She was predeceased by her mother Mary and her sisters Kara "Tina" Smith and Cheryl Backus.

Theresa is survived by her husband, John Going, her children and her cherished grandson, Zaden. She is also survived by her father George and his wife Francine, her sisters Gina Smith, Cindy Burt, Colleen Smith, Sandra Thomas and many cousins, nephews, nieces and close friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Friday February 9, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 3:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Elephant Sanctuary, 27 East Main St. Hohenwald, Tenn. 38462 in Theresa's memory.
