Theresa I. LaMotte, 96, wife of the late Owen G. LaMotte of Colonie, NY, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 with her loving family by her side at St. Peters Hospital.
Born on February 9, 1927, in Chateaugay, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Celina (Wood) Ploof.
She worked for 43 years at the Department of Motor Vehicle as a Clerk. She loved to travel with Aruba being her favorite destination. Theresa's happy place was camping at Warrensburg, NY. She loved the casino, and playing the penny slots. She adored spending time with her family and friends. Theresa was a devout Roman Catholic and her faith carried her throughout her life. Theresa will especially be missed by her aid, Lisa Cook; she and "Ms. T." would often be found playing their favorite game of Rummy, and arguing about who is winning.
Theresa is survived by her children Roland (Val) LaMotte, Peggy (the late Larry) Shipman, and Denise (Wayne) Bargy; Owen (Linda) LaMotte; her 14 grandchildren; her 31 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Anne Whiting; her brother's Richard Ploof and Donald Ploof; and her youngest brother, Ernest Ploof.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205. On Friday, December 15, 2023, all are welcome to join as we celebrate Theresa's life with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00am, in St. Clare's Chruch, 1947 Central Ave. Colonie, NY 12205. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
