Theresa M. Bell

Colonie- Theresa M. Bell, 82, passed away on November 15, 2015 at Albany Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born on July 31, 1933 in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late A. Henry and Angeline (Rozniewski) Sowek. Theresa was a graduate of Albany High School in 1951. After graduation she worked at General Mills Inc. district office in Albany, NY for 6 years. Theresa was the wife of Donald H. Bell for 54 years. He predeceased her in 2008.
After many years as a stay at home Mom, Theresa worked as a School Bus Driver for North Colonie School District for 14 years.
Theresa enjoyed gardening and many summer months at their camp at the Great Sacandaga Lake. She also enjoyed going with her husband Don to many American Legion Department and National Conventions.
She was president for over 10 years for the Lt. Herman Silverstein American Legion Auxiliary, past President for Albany County American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Wm. Dale O'Brien Marine Corp Auxiliary.
Theresa was the mother of Timothy (Tina) of Gansevoort, NY, Scott (Mary) of Latham, NY and Robert (Michele) of Latham, NY; her 7 grandchildren: Mallory, Kaitlyn, Brittany (Steven), Dominique, Andrew, Alyssa (Ryan), Samantha; 3 great-grandchildren: Lucas, Kendall, and Ava; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was predeceased by her brother Thomas Sowek.
Many thanks to Theresa's wonderful neighbors, Paula and Geoff Grignon. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Albany Memorial Hospital and Theresa's personal physicians for their loving and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, November 19 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, November 20 at the funeral home. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Theresa's name to Community Hospice 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
