Snyder's Lake- Thomas A. Mosher, Sr., a three time cancer survivor, ended his journey with Alzheimer's Disease on June 11, 2016 with his loving family at his side, at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Rensselaer, NY.
Tom was born on February 23, 1937, the fourth son of the late Francis and Katherine Mosher. Tom attended CBA then spent 3 years in the United States Marine Corps.
Tom married the love of his life, Cathy McDermott on September 6, 1958.
Tom was self-employed at Frank Mosher and Son Garage in Albany, NY.
Along with his beloved Wife, Tom is survived by 6 children: Thomas Jr. (Connie), California; Lori (Tom) Tapper, Snyders Lake, NY; Joseph (Becky) Mosher, West Sand Lake, NY; Pamela Hogan, Barnegat, NJ; John (Kerry) Mosher, Albany, NY; Michael (Ellen) Mosher, Glenmont, NY; 14 grandchildren, Thomas III (Kitt) Mosher, Ryan (Courtney & Julian) Tapper, Cindy (Champ) Tapper, David, Elizabeth, Jacob, Jennifer Mosher, Olivia and Sophia Hogan, Meghan, Daniel, Christian, Matthew, and Kateri Mosher. Tom is also survived by his brothers, Francis (Helen), and John (Jane) Mosher. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Richard (Joan) Mosher.
Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #173 and former member of its bowling and golf leagues; Joseph E. Zaloga Post American Legion and its bowling league, and St. Henry's Catholic Church in Averill Park, NY.
Tom and Cathy raised their family in Albany, NY. In August 1993 they moved into their new home on Snyder's Lake. Tom loved the lake, whether swimming, boating, water skiing, or just looking at the lake from the deck or docks. It was his "Heaven on Earth".
While at Rosewood, Tom was loved and cared for by many wonderful people. Tom's family would like to thank the entire staff: CNAs, nurses, nurse supervisors, doctors, PT, activities director and assistant, speech therapist, kitchen and dining staff, receptionists, office staff, housekeeping, maintenance, volunteers, and the residents for all you have done for Tom and our family.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, New York on Thursday June 16, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, Friday June 17, 2016, 12:30pm at St. Henry's Church, Averill Park, NY. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to the "Rosewood Activity Fund" at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
