Schenectady-Thomas Breslin died on July 8, 2022, at the Glendale Nursing Home while under the care of Schenectady County Hospice after a period of declining health. He was 93 years old.
Tom was born on March 27, 1929, to the late Rose Reittinger Breslin. He was a lifelong resident of the Albany area. He graduated from Philip Schuyler High School in 1947. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country from 1948 to 1952 and was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant. After returning to Albany, he met and married Clara Skerritt Breslin on July 2, 1955. Tom worked for Schaefer Brewery until it closed in 1972. After that he worked for the City of Albany and later retired from the New York State Dept. of Taxation and Finance. Tom and Clara loved to dance, especially the jitterbug. It was great to watch them cut a rug. Tom enjoyed bowling for most of his life. He also enjoyed a good poker game. After retiring he took up golfing and visits to the Casino. He and Clara could be found most Tuesdays enjoying Senior Day at the Racino and the occasional overnight to the Turning Stone with their dear friends Don and Dolly. And let's not forget to mention how much he enjoyed scratch offs at Hannaford. Tom was a longtime member and former officer at the Bucci-McTague Post in Albany.
Most of all Tom loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife Clara, Tom is survived by their children Anthony (Tina) Breslin of Syracuse, Terry (Linda Kern) Breslin of Lansingburgh, Tim Breslin of Rotterdam and Mary Lou (Joe) Darling of Niskayuna. He has 8 grandchildren, A.J. Breslin, Christopher Breslin, Linda DeSantis, Teresa (Tim) Richards, Elizabeth (Noah) Gifford, Jason (Kayla Kristie) Breslin, Corey Van Wormer and Joshua (Becca Faas) Breslin.
