Tom joined his wife Betty, son Michael, and grandson Nicholas, in eternal rest on January 9, 2025. Also predeceased are his parents, Thomas H. Cook, Sr & Nora A. Cook, along with his sisters Noreen & Margaret Cook, and several other beloved family members.
Tom was a truck driver by trade and missed being on the road. He loved his coffee, all kinds of baked goods, and as long as it had chocolate it was his! I guess you could say, he was like a well trained pup, with a wiggle wag and a winky pooh he’d do anything for chocolate!
Most of all though, Tom’s pride and joy was his family. He was the proud father of seven; Debra J. Landauer, Thomas A. Cook, John D. Cook (Albina), Michael E. Cook (Fabianne), Cynthia M. Calabro (John), Katherine A. Murray (Scott), and Nancy E. Smith (Richard). Grandfather to 14; Shawn & Jesse Brozowski, Thomas E. & Brandon Cook, Ryan Lavoo, Linda Rarick, Albina, Nicholas & Christopher Cook, Michael C. Cook Sr., John Nickarz & Kyle Calabro, Heather Ray & Erica Gallagher, and great-grandfather to 9; Madison Brozowski, Joshua & Jonah Cook, Marin Lavoo, Michael C. Jr & Anastasia Cook, Adriana Nickarz, and Nora & Patrick Ray. He also has several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. Needless to say, he touched the lives of many!
Every time he would see any one of us he light up, grin from ear to ear, and in that booming voice of his he’d say “Hey honey, how ya doing!”. His fondest memories always went back to our family home on Asprion Rd in Glenmont NY. He loved that house so much! As a matter of fact, he would often say, “when I die just bury me in a coffee can in the back yard”. Sadly that isn’t legal, and I don’t think the current homeowner would appreciate a mob of people showing up on their lawn with a post hole digger, so his final resting place will be next to his beloved wife Betty and his son Michael, in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont NY.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany NY on January 20, 2025 from 3 to 6 pm, with a memorial service at 6 pm. The family welcomes everyone to join them in a celebration of life directly following at the VFW Post #8692, located at 140 VFW Road, Albany NY. Internment will be at 11am on January 21st in the Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
