Thomas Roland Hutchins Curit, 64, of Delmar died unexpectedly Thursday July 23, 2009.
He was born in Portsmouth, NH the son of the late Margaret (Beede) Hutchins Curit Neno and Willard Hutchins. He grew up in Maine and later resided in Ithaca, where he earned his B.S. degree from Ithaca College, and then his M.B.A. from Clarkson. He was employed as a CPA at several firms and later was the Comptroller at the American Red Cross in Albany. During that time he worked part time as a painter and decorator, and went on to be self-employed for many years in his successful business, Quality Wallpaper and Painting, before retiring 2 years ago. He enjoyed relaxing at many beaches, especially in Maine near the Nubble Lighthouse.
He is survived by his former wife, Christiane Ellman Curit, who has remained his best friend and companion throughout, his 2 sons Richard (Inga) of El Paso, Texas, Craig (Jintana) of Fresno, CA and their mother Kathleen Curit of Saranac Lake, step-son André Ellman of Albany and 3 adoring, loving grandsons, Connor and Cullen Curit of Fresno, Janis Curit of El Paso, and step-grandson Aiden Ellman of Albany. His two brothers also survive him, Neil (JoAnn) of Chandler, AZ and Scott (Paula) of Stuart, Fla, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and the many friends who will miss his smiling face, kind heart and energy.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, with a short service to follow and a private memorial at a later date at the Nubble Lighthouse in Maine, which was Tom's request.
