Thomas J. Desmond, Jr.

Cohoes – Thomas "Tommy" J. Desmond, Jr., 64, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cohoes, on April 19, 1957, he was the son of the late Thomas Desmond Sr. and Joan Desmond (Gendron).

Thomas graduated Cohoes High School in 1975 and spent a lot of his childhood playing sports, especially basketball.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Thomas. He enjoyed working on cars and computers, and he was an avid fan of The New York Jets, in which he will no longer have to watch them lose every Sunday. Thomas also loved spending time with his furry friend and partner in crime, Toby Cakes Desmond, sharing the couch and snacking on corn dogs.

Tom was the devoted husband to Jean Desmond (Beddow). He is also survived by his pride and joys, his children, Christina (Chris) Cipperley, and his sons, Brian (Jennifer) Desmond and Matthew Desmond; his grandchildren, whom he adored, Abrie Desmond, Nathan and Bailey Cipperley; his siblings, Diane (Paul) Cunningham, Beth (Brian) Lash, and Peter (Deidre) Desmond; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Thomas is predeceased by his siblings, Jean Gerou and John Desmond.

Services to be held privately by the family at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet on Thursday, September 2nd at 10:30 a.m.
