Thomas F. Farrell

On Friday, November 6, 2020, Tom Farrell, loving husband and father of three, passed away at the age of 78.

Tom was born on December 22, 1941 in Glens Falls, N.Y. to Frank and Marie (Savarie) Farrell. He graduated from Indian Lake Central School in Indian Lake, N.Y., and obtained a BA in History from Manhattan College. He received his law degree from Albany Law School in 1966, graduating third in his class. On November 28, 1963, he married Dzintra "Kris" (Eichvalds) Farrell. They raised three sons, Eric, Michael and Colin.

In 1973, after practicing for several years at a Rochester, N.Y. law firm, he was counsel and later president of the company that developed the master planned community of Gananda, located in Macedon, N.Y. For many years thereafter he practiced business and real estate law on his own, and was devoted to his several clients located in Rochester, Auburn and Binghamton. In 2003, he joined the Binghamton firm of Hinman, Howard & Kattell as special counsel.

Tom's active legal career ended in 2006 following a series of medical mishaps, after which he became a resident of Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal, N.Y. During his 12 years there, and most recently one year at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, N.Y., he and his wife Kris remained close.

Tom was an enthusiastic sports fan, and was an avid follower of his sons' high school athletic pursuits. He was a talented musician who played the valve trombone, and he could really cut a rug with a dance partner. He loved to play golf and enjoy happy hour with his many friends. He always wore a smile and was quick to laugh. Tom and Kris enjoyed theme cruises and other travel, including a memorable trip to Europe in their 20s.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Frank, his mother, Marie, and a sister, Joan. He is survived by his wife Kris; sons Eric (Sheryl), Michael (Katrina) and Colin (Kimberly); grandchildren Ryan, Lauren, Jacob, Julia, Savarie and Ronan; and his sister Marietta Keppler and brother Robert.

A private funeral service for the family will be held New Comer Cremations & Funerals in Watervliet, N.Y.
