LOUDONVILLE – Thomas H. Franklin, 81, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Franklin. He was a resident of Colonie for most of his life. Tom served his country during the Korean War in the United States Coast Guard. He retired as a Line Foreman from Niagara Mohawk and was past President of I.B.E. W. Local #137. Mr. Franklin was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Albany. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Tom is the beloved husband of 57 years to Margaret M. Franklin. He is the devoted father of Margaret A. "Peggy" Franklin, Kathleen Franklin, Joseph Franklin and Suzanne Coonley. He is the cherished grandfather of Catherine, Margaret, Matthew (Jasilia), Nicholas, Christopher and Michelle. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion, "Alonzo."
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Thomas H. Franklin.
