Thomas J. Irwin, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Van Rensselaer Manor with his loving family by his side.
Tom was the son of the late William and Helen Irwin. He spent his early childhood in Queens, New York and later moved to Latham where he graduated from Shaker High School and made many lifelong friends.
Tom proudly served with the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. He was married to Roxanne Irwin for 45 years. During that time, they had 2 children and many adventures. Tom worked hard to provide for his family, working as an engineer for the City of Troy, then as supervisor of buildings and grounds for Parsons Child and Family Center in Albany. He also ran his own vending business Key Vending, and in partnership with friends their company Tetrarch owned and managed many apartment units.
Tom was a member of the Watervliet Elks Club and various golf leagues. He always enjoyed bowling, diving, trampolines, horseshoes, golfing, traveling and chicken wings! Tom loved spending time with his family and friends, especially cheering on his children at their many sporting events. Tom will always be remembered for his sense of humor, silly jokes, and contagious smile.
Tom is survived by his children, Carrie Lee and Tyson (Jeannette) Irwin. He is the cherished grandfather of Norah, Autumn, Maribel and TJ Irwin. Tom is pre-deceased by his sister Carole Irwin, and survived by his brother Billy Irwin, nieces Emily, Gabby and Megan, as well as many dear friends.
