ALBANY – Thomas J. Whydra, 70, passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 20, 2007.
Tom was born on March 22, 1937 in Albany and was the son of the late Joseph F. and Florence T. (Keller) Whydra. He was a graduate of Albany High and served in the US Army National Guard.
Tom was employed by the NYS Thruway Authority for many years until his retirement. Prior to that he worked for Williams Press then NYS Teachers Retirement.
Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 49 years, Judith E. (Filsinger) Whydra; three children, Daniel T. (Anne) Whydra of Ravena, Donna-Lynn (Patrick Hoogkamp) Whydra of Latham, and Dawn-Marie (Mark) Livingston of Guilderland. Poppy also leaves to cherish his memory, his nine grandchildren, Jamielynn (Matthew) Poggoli, Jennifer L. Whydra, Matthew T. (Crystal Stephenson) Whydra, David D. Whydra, Jessica L. (Juan Alonso) Whydra, Janastasia L. Whydra, Joseph M. Livingston, Shawn J. Livingston, Amanda D. Livingston and four great-grandchildren, Dominic M. Poggoli, Anthony J. Poggoli, Star Lynn Whydra and Emily Elizabeth Alonso; and a sister, Dale (John) Vincent. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his stepmother, Thelma D. Whydra.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 609 Central Ave. at Colby St., Albany. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
