Thomas R. Lavoy

SCHENECTADY - Thomas (Tom) Richard Lavoy, 72, passed away on June 1, 2022 at St. Peter's Hospice with wife Susan Holcomb Lavoy of Schenectady and friends by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Tom was born August 13, 1949 in Schenectady to the late Arnold Roy and Ethel (Zitzmann) Lavoy. Tom attended Schenectady public schools and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 – 1968. Tom was awarded several medals while serving his tour of duty in Vietnam. He was self employed as a building contractor for many years throughout the Tri-City area. Tom enjoyed working on various personal projects and was a skilled craftsman. Tom enjoyed being outdoors, nature, boating, target practice and spending time with his wonderful friends.
Tom is survived by his wife Susan Holcomb Lavoy and his four legged constant companion Sami; loving brother Robert (Bob) Lavoy; devoted nephew Robert (Bobby) Lavoy.
Tom is predeceased by his parents Arnold and Ethel Lavoy.
The Lavoy family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who provided care and showed compassion for Tom including the staff at St. Peter's Hospice; Roswell/Ellis staff and Dr. Jose David. A memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
