RENSSELAER_Thomas M. Harmon passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at his daughter's residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Weedsport, NY, he was the son of the late Richard M. and Alice (O'Connor) Harmon. Tom enlisted into the US Army Air Forces after graduating from Weedsport Central High School and served his country as a B-24 pilot in WWII. Following discharge from the service, Tom attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1950.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Julie Pridon at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Watervliet, NY on September 9, 1950.
Tom began his career as an aeronautical engineer working for 35 years at Grumman Corporation in Calverton, NY. After retiring the pair returned to the Capital District to be near their family.
Tom is predeceased by his beloved wife Julie, his sisters Agnes, Helen, Alice and his brothers Harold, James, and Richard (Mike).
He is survived by his loving children Thomas R. (Sara) Harmon, James F. Harmon and Patricia A. (Anthony) Cannistraci. Tom is the cherished grandfather of Lauren, Christopher, Katrina, Stephan, Elizabeth, Luke, Jesse and Noah and the adored great-grandfather of Drea Rose and numerous nieces, nephews cousins, and friends.
Tom will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man, with a knack for telling stories that made people smile.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 18 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Cannistraci residence, 44 Drumlough Rd, Averill Park, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 19 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY. Interment will be at 12:00pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
